Full-Time Student

If you are studying in a Campus right now, you are called a FULL-TIME STUDENT. Why Full-Time? Because basically, that’s all you need to do right now: to study. Your passion and energy should be focused in studying.

In reality, what happens? Students (we) face distractions, problems and hindrances. Most of them: self-inflicted. Sometimes we take responsibilities we shouldn’t be shouldering, we do activities we shouldn’t be joining, and we go into relationships we shouldn’t be having. For some, the issue is timing.

The Result? We have less time to study, decreased effort for education, and divided attention for learning. We lose focus on what is important. And it will have a big impact for our future when we get our diplomas and start working in the area we are called to.

Let us try to learn from the one who broke the record in UP, with a grade of 1.004, Tiffany Uy. She said that what she could learn today could save a life someday when she becomes a doctor.

I hope we’ll have that motivation and mindset. If you study well, you’ll do good in your job someday, then your excellent work would help this country and eventually it would even help the world. That is how huge the impact is if you study well. The problem is, we don’t see it that way. But I strongly believe this perspective is true.

The answer doesn’t lie in not doing anything else but studying. It’s plain crazy. I myself train for running and swimming but I will gladly skip a training to review for a quiz because right now, I am a Full-Time Student, not a full-time athlete.

The answer is P R I O R I T I E S. Your priority right now is to study. It’s up to you to do something else but just make sure to balance your time and that the big chunk of it will still be devoted to studies.

General Rule: If it hinders your studies, don’t do it.

Maybe you have exceptions but generally, it is the rule of a Full-Time Student.

If you somehow failed in the past or anything like that, worry not. There is always hope. After all, that is what this blog is all about: to extend hope. I am not a perfect student, but I always make the effort to do my best to excel in it. It is never too late. You could start all over again. You just need to ask yourself, “Have I given my best already?” Then take it from there.

It will not be easy to balance our priorities. But to that, there’s also hope. And it’s from the One who created us. He could and would provide wisdom on how to do it and here’s the verse:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ NIV)

Experience could be the avenue of wisdom for you. Don’t give up if some things didn’t work out.

With all the things that are happening in this country and in the World, there is always hope. And if you focus on being a Full-Time Student and do well in your studies, you will be strengthening that hope.
